The Newlands Valley is a stunning base for a Lake District Holiday. With so much to offer right on your doorstep you may not even need the car once you arrive!

The walking on offer is second to none - whether you want a relaxing stroll through the peaceful valley or an all-day mountain hike, around the local famous Newlands Valley Horseshoe.

Newlands is also a superb base for cyclists, you'll be spoilt for choice. There are country lanes, permitted cycleways and bridleways with some fantastic views!

Whinlatter Forest
For mountain bikers, Whinlatter Forest and Grizedale Forest are criss-crossed with routes ranging from those suitable for beginners to more challenging levels.
Newlands Adventure Centre
The Newlands Adventure Centre is the ideal destination for people looking for something a little more exhilarating. Situated in the small hamlet of Stair just a few minutes drive from the cottage, Newlands Adventure Centre offer a wide range of activities from Ghyll Scrambling, Climbing, Mountain Biking, Archery and much more.
The Swinside Inn
Hungry after a long day on the fells? The Swinside Inn is only a 2 minute drive or 35 minute walk from High Snab Cottage. This traditional Lakeland Inn offers a warm welcome with home-cooked food, roaring fires and real ales.
Braithwaite Village
Braithwaite is the nearest village to High Snab Cottage just a few miles down the quiet valley road. Here you will find an excellent pub - The Coledale Inn and two hotels: Ivy House and Middle Ruddings Country Inn, all serving hearty food and local beers.
Mirehouse

Mirehouse is a family run historic house attraction open to visitors to enjoy its strong literary connections, live piano music and children's activities.

Set in the heart of the North Lake District, three miles from Keswick, the beautiful, natural gardens at Mirehouse offer stunning views of the dramatic Lakeland landscape they are set in. Enjoy the attraction of the tranquility of the walled Bee Garden, stroll in quiet contemplation along the Poetry or by the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake.

The Lake District Wildlife Park
The Lake District Wildlife Park is set just ten minutes from Keswick, it is the only wildlife park in north Cumbria.

Wander around the beautiful 24 acre parkland and see over 100 species. The magical Bird of Prey flying displays have been a regular feature since the park opened and we have gathered an eclectic mix of over 100 species from Anaconda to Zebra.

The newly refurbished café is a light bright space serving home cooked food that’s locally sourced. Fresh scones baked daily, plus an array of hot meals and tasty sandwiches. And there are special lunchboxes just for the kids.
